Rehabilitation

One of the most important tasks of  the occupational and physical therapist is to use therapeutic exercises which may help patients recover or improve their coordination. Therapists admit that it is difficult to treat coordination problems, but several approaches may be used.  The ProThink MotorVator™ is one of the very few tools on the market today that has been developed to help improve coordination and motor skills.  This can serve as a wonderful tool for rehabilitation.  In order to improve coordination, therapists and doctors recommend:

  • Using a repetitive functional approach with cueing.
  • Sensory stimuli to influence motor function.
  • Interaction of multiple reflexes to improve motor coordination.

Creating Connecting Links in the Brain

The ProThink MotorVator™ stimulates the growth of synaptic circuits by using repetitive exercises, different hand and foot patterns, rhythm, and speed.  With constant use, synaptic transmissions can become  stronger and more efficient between the right and left sides of the brain, along with the individual lobes.
Synapses and Dendrites.  Normally there is a space or cleft between two communicating neurons in the brain called a synapse.  A synapse can occur between dendrites which are the small branches projecting from the cell body of a neuron.  Each neuron is capable of receiving several thousand messages from different sources.  This capability is increased when more synaptic circuits are created. The studies have shown that sensory stimulation promotes dendriatic growth.  The process in which the eyes follow the rhythmatic patterns across the screen of the ProThink MotorVator™ stimulates dendriatic growth.  This creates more links in the brain and improves coordination.

A study done at Loyola University in Louisiana showed that over a 5-week time period, students using the ProThink MotorVator™ showed significant improvement in gross-motor coordination, visual perception and IQ scores.  The control group showed no significant gain.

Stroke

In medical observations, it was noted that stroke patients who used the ProThink MotorVator™ recovered three to four times faster than patients who did not.

Cerebral Palsy

Excersises with a 21-year old cerebral palsy patient showed that after using the ProThink MotorVator™,the over-all improvement noted was quite dramatic and impressive as compared to his previous rate of improvement.

ADD & ADHD

The ProThink MotorVator™ has been reported to benefit children and adolescents with ADD and ADHD.

Dyslexia

This program could be beneficial for people with dyslexia.  Not only does it emphasize the left to right concept, but it improves the ability to learn and concentrate

Medical Endorsement

There are many adolescents and children who are said to be hyperactive or have ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) when indeed their brightness leaves them feeling bored by the lack of stimulation they receive from mundane everyday life.  They appear to be hyperactive when really they need more stimulation.  I think that the ProThink MotorVator will be helpful with this type of individual, as well as those that are handicapped with other forms of learning disability, such as Dyslexia, etc.  The help with the physically handicapped, such as stroke victims, trauma victims, etc., is also unlimited in the imagination.”
-Joe B. Hayes, Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine
“[Stroke] patients who used the ProThink MotorVator have recovered three to four times faster than patients who did not.  He [Dr. Osborne] felt that this was a direct result of creation of new circuits to replace those damaged in a stroke.  He felt that the ability of the ProThink MotorVator to create new circuits was a major breakthrough…this program can be a major breakthrough in rehabilitation, education, sports, and entertainment.”
